Hey guys! This week felt like it didn't even happen it was so fast. We drove A TON this week. We had zone training at Cameron this week and that was great. Then we had to drive home, then back to St. Joe to stay the night. Then to Independence the next day then back home. We racked up 600 miles or so in just over 24 hours. The devotional in Independence was so awesome though. Elder Stevenson came and spoke to all the missionaries with 2 other members of the 70. He made it a personal note to ask us each where we were from and shake all of our hands. It was awesome. Exactly what you'd expect from a special witness of Jesus Christ. (:
Remember the awkward street contact last week? Well we went and taught him and it went great! He was really receptive and interested in the Book of Mormon so that was really cool. Before we started the lesson we were just small-talking. His apartment was full of hunting gear and so I asked him if he liked to eat the stuff he killed. He said he did and that he really liked squirrel (still haven't had it yet darn it). So I was all, "so how many of those have you eaten anyway...?" And he says, "oh..I'm not sure...thousands." Hahahaha I now know who's keeping the squirrel population in check. (': Also may have found where my first squirrel dinner is coming from.(;
On the topic of dead animals. Last P-day was interesting because we went over to a families' house and they said there was a raccoon that was hurt outside the night before. So we crossed the field to it and...it was dead.
Since it was so fresh...I had to take advantage of the situation right?
I borrowed a pocket knife and pliers and cut the tail off of him. Taking the bone out took a lot longer than I thought and let me tell you, the smell was not pleasant. But alas, after de-boning the thing, sewing it up a little, and preserving it in our garage for the following week I now have a super awesome coon tail trinket. :D
Kill and Eat rabbit. Check.
Raccoon Tail. Check.
Squirrel Tail...you're next. >:)
