So life here has settled into ground hog day. In fact I lose track of the days because they are all so alike..nevertheless, I love it! Thank you everyone for sending pictures. I love seeing them(:
Some interesting experiences for this week!
This past week we had our first TRC lesson. It is when they bring in investigators, converts, or members into the CCM (that´s mtc in spanish haha) and we have to go in and teach! It´s to practice How To Begin Teaching in preach my gospel. The first one Elder Conley and I was super awesome! We talked to a 17 year old girl from Mexico. She spoke mad fast spanish but what I understood is she was inactive for most of her teenage years but recently came back into the church and has a burning testimony. All the latinos here have crazy long names too..Like yenenji gonzalez juarez yamcheli (yep, that was her name..) The second lesson was pretty sweet too, we went into a room and taught some people in another part of the country through skype! It was hard to hear but I love talking to people.
Spanish is slowly coming. It´s hard to feel like i´m progressing any but if I look back to day one I´d say i´m a little better at least. We have made pals with some Mexican Elders here and so we try and sit with them for meals and talk in Spanish.
Our lessons keep getting harder and harder, well it's mostly our investigators.. At first when we would commit them to do something they'd do it right away and were acting as golden investigators. Now they have started getting tougher (more like real life). They will play on their phones, be watching videos, or not complete their commitments. It's a good push for us to learn how to deal with problems but it still isn't very fun!
Elder Packer's funeral was good. We all went into the auditorium and watched the broadcast. Seeing the live footage of temple square made me miss home a little bit, but Mexico city is very beautiful so I think I'll manage(:
On another note I've gained some weight! Finally. I think it´s because Elder Conley and I eat a ton and then we go to the weight room and destroy ourselves hahaha. Our district has made a goal to do 25 push ups anytime we speak in English before lunchtime and i'm hoping it's enough motivation. Our maestros have begun speaking only in Spanish to us. They said at the halfway point they turn everything into solo español. Pretty scary but it'll be good for me.
Random things I don't know where to fit in..
Um..all of the Hermanas here keep telling me I look like Theo James. I hope that's a good thing. However, today I go in for my first haircut in the CCM.. I may or may not be bald after this. Those 4 ft tall Mexican ladies go hard with the clippers. (': Oh well, it's going to be funny after the fact at least.
This one will come as a shock..but I joined the choir this week (just for this week) out of my own free will.. Yep. Never thought I'd reach this level. Hahaha but we are singing the EFY medley in Spanish and I couldn't pass up one of my favorite songs.
I'm really enjoying those gifts packed in my suit case. It gives me something to look forward to at the end of every sunday!
oh and by the way..
SEND MY AP SCORES. gracias.
So my thought for this week came from district meeting. We were sharing mission stories from our parents and Hermana Huish told a story about how her father had to cast out evil spirits in a woman. It is kind of freaky to realize how powerful Satan is, and it's important to realize he is a real being. HOWEVER. Jesus Christ and heavenly Father are infinitely more powerful. With them on our side, we have nothing to fear. Rely on the Lord and you can overcome anything.
Mucho Amor,
Elder Regis
