Area 3.0

Hey! I am writing this amidst of a pretty big thunderstorm. The thunder is causing a whole bunch of car alarms to go off in the parking lot outside(': Well the calls came in and I was kicked out of Maryville! I am going to miss that town and people a lot. There were so many awesome things about that place :( But it was great and I am pumped for my 3rd area. I'll send some pictures(:

I am now serving with my new companion Elder Hansen! Real quick about him, he's from Idaho and is pretty cool. He only has...30 something days left on his mission, so I'm going to be killing him pretty soon. The first day we were eating lunch and he ate like almost an entire loaf of bread with sandwiches and said, "Wait how much of this have I eaten..?" He has this crazy weird disorder where he can't feel full, hunger or thirst. Wacky huh?! So he just has to follow an eating schedule to make sure. He said once he went 4 days without food and didn't feel any pain, just really weak. So anyway I don't know if that's a blessing or curse O.o

So we have been assigned to serve in the Liberty 1st ward! WOOHOO! We are part of the Liberty Missouri Stake(: Our area is much smaller than before and we have a pretty active ward. We are in a fairly well-to-do area in the suburbs. We also are part time car, walking every other week. It has been a really nice change up from driving everyday. We've done a ton of service so far. Helping 2 people move, working in a thrift store, and leveling tombstones in a graveyard.

Oh yeah by the way, guess where we have weekly district meeting?
LIBERTY JAIL. HOW FREAKING COOL IS THAT.

My story for the week..
We went to stake conference here and after went to a members home because their son was opening his mission call. He'd had the call for nearly an entire week so we were all commending him on his patience haha! He had a whole bunch of people over and when we finally start he begins to open it, then when it's opened he just drops it to on the floor and is all, "one second.." And pulls up his laptop on the TV. He then proceeds to show a video of him opening his call one week earlier and record himself doing so then resealing. So much for patience. That kid is my hero now. Long Transfer

Another solid week locked away! It's a 7 week transfer so I will find out if I stay or leave this week.

We had a lesson with Dennis, our investigator from Hong Kong this week. After we gave him a Cantonese Book of Mormon he had started to read and really understand what we'd taught him so far. It was awesome teaching him how to pray and to hear a really sincere prayer to simply know Him. Later he said, "You guys pay rent right? Well I will be leaving in May next month but my house is paid through July. So if you need a place to stay you can save your rent money and take my place." Haha I'd never had anybody offer me their house before so that was pretty funny. Got ourselves a party house now (; Jokes.

We had a cool miracle this week. We were driving around after our appointments went short and had about 25 minutes before dinner. So finally we pulled over and my companion suggested a prayer so we pulled over and did so. When I looked up I saw this lady walking her dog and thought, "Boom. Lord answered fast this time. Gonna get her." So we went and talked to her but she wasn't wiling to listen. So we tried a house and no luck there. Walking away I was thinking, "alright, well there has to be some reason I was impressed to talk to that lady...but why?" As we looked around there was a young guy sitting in his garage so we went up to him and he was polite. We shared the restoration with him in record time and left him with a Book of Mormon, on top of that he accepted to read, pray, and let us come back. Sweet! Answer to a prayer.

We had stake conference this weekend and it was so awesome. Best one I've ever been to. It was the first stake conference for the Far West, Missouri stake since it's been reorganized. There's something about reading revelations in Doctrine & Covenants that took place in Far West and then to be on the very ground where it happened. Then to realize that the future of this historic place is even brighter. #bestmission #secondcoming

Two of the talks were on some amazing conversion stories. One lady got up and started with, "I am in a lot different place than I was 4 years ago, when I was trying to prove the church wrong." Haha! She was heavily involved in her baptist church and was looking to find more members. She figured she could probably swing a few Mormons over and began going through every anti book and film she could find but when she was sick of reading that garbage she decided to read the Book of Mormon for herself to prove it wrong. Well as you can guess her life changed, nearly a year after her start she was baptized. When her parents found out she had to pay rent and utilities, undergo their scrutiny, and had to study in her car during the winter months because they would not let her bring anything in the house. She ended with such an awesome testimony about how the knowledge we have as a church is something to treasure.

Rinse & Repeat

I am struggling to think of anything overly exciting that happened this week. Same old for me!

We found some new people to teach street contacting in a little town called Barnard which was cool. They're a nice young couple a bit older than us. We also moved our High Priest group leader into his new home and helped a lady plant some apple trees. (:

One of my really good friends in the mission is going home to Mexico the end of this transfer. I am so sad. I will always remember him tackling me onto my bed my very first day in Missouri..(':

Oh holy cow, if you all are looking for something funny to watch. One of our investigators showed us this video. It's Adelle's "Hello" redone as a missionary spoof. I'm sure if you searched it you could find it. Hilarious. It so represents our life (':

I am not sure if this exists back home, but I had my very first taco pizza on Saturday. It is all the ingredients of a taco on a pizza. I think I may have very well found my favorite pizza of all time.

That's it for me this week. Live it up for me!

I blink and I'm emailing again. O.o

We were on exchanges this week and as we were visiting a less active we stopped and talked to this younger girl outside some apartments. When we asked if we could come by to share a message with her she says, "yeah that's fine, but don't think you're going to covert me." Ha. Challenge accepted.

We went back over there and had an awesome lesson with her and her brother. She committed to read a chapter from the Book of Mormon. It is always very refreshing when the Spirit guides us to people.(:

Earlier that day we were role-playing in district meeting a street contact. I was pretending to be the guy and just making up stuff as we went along with the other missionary. Well that night we knocked on a door and I kid you not, the exact words that came out of his mouth had come out of mine earlier in that role-play. Knocked my socks off. Then it happened a second time in the reverse situation to the other missionary in his area! Apparently somebody up there appreciates our practice..(':

How about that conference huh? That's the stuff. I loved all of it, and there were some great quotes in there. One of my favorite talks had to be Elder Christofferson's. He talked about fatherhood! What an awesome role we get as men. While I'm still light years away from that responsibility I know that dad's are pretty awesome and the world needs more good ones. Many times a well placed "dad-joke" is exactly what the family needs.(; One cool quote I found is, "Out of all the titles there are for deity, God has asked us to call him Father."

Vaya con Dios!
