Thanks again for the birthday wishes from everyone! I had a great day!(: I even challenged somebody to be baptized on my birthday...yeah they said no...hahaha but I am not giving up. We are going to hit our goal dang it. :P Shoutout to the bomb birthday package.
This week has been extremely rainy here and I hate it! Never been a fan of rain. We got covered in mud one day too haha that was actually pretty enjoyable. Especially because we had dinner in one of our ward members mansion house. Two muddy elders looked a bit out of place in their fancy dining room hahaha.
So the other day we were out trying to contact some potentials we had record of. None of them were really working out. As we were riding through some apartment buildings I heard a bunch of Spanish from a building. So we came back a little later and would just listen to the doors we heard Spanish from and knock them. Hahaha that's what I call tactful tracting (': We actually got a return appointment for a man named Eloy too! It was pretty fun.
Going along with that we had an amazing Sunday! I kid you not, every single potential investigator we tried let us into their home! That's freaking insane! It was so awesome. Later we asked a part member family if they'd be willing to teach us how to make some legit black southern fried chicken..
They said yes.
Boom.
So one thing we have been studying is how the bible and the Book of Mormon support each other. As members of the church it's easy to see, but lots of other Christians we come in contact out here think the bible is absolute and final. If you're bored here are some cool scriptures to study that have the Book of Mormon and Bible testifying about each other.
John 10:16 & 3 Nefi 15: 21-24
2 Nefi 29
Isaiah 29:4, 11-18 This one relates to Joseph Smith as well as the Book of Mormon.
Ezekiel 37:15-17 (Remember Lehi is a descendant of Joseph).
There are more but hey, food for thought. (:
A personal testimony of the Book of Mormon is way more important than facts. Though the archeological stuff and supporting scriptures are just an added bonus. The Book of Mormon is true! That's what matters!
Mucho Amor,
Elder Regis
P.s. We weren't allowed to go out on Halloween so we had to entertain ourselves. I thought fire-bending was a good idea.
