We stole this from the primary room. It was last year's theme for them, but now it's our decorations for our study room.
So this week on exchanges with Elder Chidress we were out looking for some people and we street contacted this 20 something girl. Later she texts and is like, "to be honest I only talked to you guys because I thought you two were cute..but I actually do have some questions about the gospel.." Am I ashamed about this? Definitely not. I think "flirt to convert" should be added to Preach My Gospel in the Finding section. Haha all jokes aside it was a fun day.
The next day, a similar situation happened. This lady started yelling at us like, "You guys mormons?!" We're all..."yeah...wanna talk?" so she invited us to the Newman Center, which is a catholic center for the University. Anyway she started a discussion with us and slowly more and more people showed up. By the end we were having a Q&A with a room full of Catholics. Super fun and nerve-wracking with all their deep doctrinal questions (which made us sound a bit crazy to be honest) but we got some interested people out of it. Then we got to tour their building and see one of the confession rooms which was pretty cool.
The pies that we got from our investigator looked like this.
I also had to give my first talk in sacrament meeting! I've been pretty lucky to make it this far in the mish without having to but oh well. It was on the 4th article of Faith so it wasn't too bad at all. Even if we only had 2 hours to prepare O.o
Update on Tyler..sadlly he was not able to be baptized this last Saturday :/ He is super ready for it but his mother read some fun things on the internet (like how mormons think Dinosaurs are aliens) and would not give permission. We are hoping we'll be able to meet with her soon and clear up all these fun rumors, but worse comes to worse he'll get baptized when he's 18 in a few months. The Lord always wins in the end. Sorry Satan. -.-
THIS JUST IN. No literally I just got this information just now.
In my last area we were teaching a student at Rockhurst University named Noah. He's got buddies in the mission field and he was really curious and searching for the truth. We taught him Restoration, Plan of Salvation, Gospel of Jesus Christ, but then my companion and I both got white washed out so we gave his record to the sister missionaries with some very specific instructions to make him priority #1.
Well we just got a text just now that he was baptized yesterday.
AHHHH YEAHHH. I AM SO HAPPY! :D :D :D Sometimes we as missionaries plant seeds. Such an awesome blessing to see that pay off, even if I wasn't there for the actual baptism. Don't ever think that just because someone doesn't accept an invitation for something church related means they'll never get there. Don't stop planting seeds.
