Happy New Year!! Yeahhh!
My one and only full calendar year of being a missionary. :( Time to go big. Also there is 1 week left until the college students come back. I am really ready for school to start (first time in my life I can say that). Our poor little town is so empty without them :l
Interesting stories from the week...
First thing, we went into Casey's (the local gas station) and started chatting with the girl who works cashier. Well she was pretty cool and wanted us to stay and talk to her so we did for awhile...but then her manager came over and kicked us out of the store (': First time getting kicked out of somewhere. CHECK.
Well a few days later we were sitting in the gas station parking lot at night debating whether we should go in a bug cashier girl again to watch mormon messages with us, when a black truck and a cop tailing him flew past. Then a second later 3 more cops flew after them. So we were like, "....let's go." So we started driving after them to see what's up. When we finally got up to what was going on there was a huge old line of cars for some reason. Well we got to see when they motioned us to go through, then like a mile up the road all the cars turned around. The whole town did exactly what we did. (': They just wanted to see the drug bust too hahaha.
So this week we had 2 really cool miracles.
First we were in rinky dink town called Westboro (population like...400 on a good day) visiting less actives. Well nobody was home or answering their doors so it was a little bit of a pain. But we were going to try one more house before we went home but the address didn't exist in my companion's gps. So he's like, "I'll just put my finger on where I think it might be and we'll see if we can find it." So we started to drive and took a turn or two when we got to a highway. Right before we were going to turn our lights flashed onto a little sign with their house number. It was way out of the way and super lucky we saw it. Then when we went up there a lady answered (I'd never met her) and she was super nice and welcomed us in! I was stoked because it was the first house we'd been in all day. Then we chatted for a second and she says, "Well I'll have you know my youngest daughter hasn't been baptized and we are hoping to get that done. Could you do that?"
We just kinda sat there stunned for a sec O.o WOOHOO. So that was super sickkk.
We have been teaching our investigator named Tyler for awhile. He is super ready for the gospel. He's always saying stuff like, "so when I'm baptized...." and "When I go on my mission..." Well he's 17 so technically he needs parental permission still, but when he brought it up with his mother she instantly shot him down. So he was really nervous to push the topic. So we role-played with him a few times and gave him a blessing. He was able to bring it up with her and her heart was softened! She was totally fine with it. Quite the 180. So that got me and my companion really stoked (: God is intimately involved in each of our lives and our personal circumstances. Happy New Year!
