Let me weave you the tale of my extraordinary bad luck recently.
My companion has been driving this past transfer. Well we did exchanges on Tuesday evening and dropped him and our district leader off at their dinner. As I pulled away I scarcely made it 100 yards
when the oil light came on. We pulled over and shut off he engine. Started it again and the same thing happened. We were on a busy road but we popped the hood and nothing seemed wrong...until ALL of the oil blew out of the bottom! What the??
Obviously car isn't moving without oil so we called our vehicle coordinator to get a tow truck for us. In the meantime we were late for a lesson so we called some members and they said they would come
rescue us. When they showed up we got a call from the mission office that the truck was supposed to be there in a half hour or so. Now they told us to stay with the car, but seeing as we were late, it's dark
and on a sketchy road, we called the tow company directly and asked if we could leave the keys so we could get out of there. They said it'd be fine, they'd be there shortly. Not only that but a police officer
pulled up and asked if we needed help. We told him we had the situation taken care of and someone was coming.
We leave. Great dinner. Great lesson. All is right. Next morning I get a phone call. It's the mission office. Now apparently in the time between us leaving, the other elders coming and checking out the car (they came after we left) but BEFORE our truck came, some cops called a DIFFERENT truck and impounded the car!! So now it's somewhere in KC, neither companionship has a car, the vehicle guy is mad, and the mission president lectures me. Then to top it off they fined me $100 for the incident... *sighs*
I guess that's how the dice fall sometimes.
There is a ray of hope though. Felicia is praying about a baptismal date. So all was worth it in the end. :D
