Finally came. Everybody has been ranting about the cold here and it's been like a mild autumn the whole time. Until yesterday. O.o Hot dog. We were driving to church watching the thermometer in the car slowly drop. It went from the garage temp slowly to a whopping 0. Which isn't so bad right? Wrong. Let's add wind chill. We're looking at -15 to -20 degrees. Then there's the whole humidity thing. This kind of cold freezes your soul. It's much different than back home. No worries though because I love it(:
We had such an awesome week this week. Let me continue on with Tyler! So he was able to tell his mother about the discussions, then his old church decided to close its doors due to the cold so he came to ours, where he felt the spirit. This led him to make up his mind and he asked a member to baptize him! So he is scheduled for Saturday. That'll be a tight squeeze but definitely before the month is over. He's already mentioned how cool a mission would be too (he's a senior in high school). So we are really excited for his progress. It's like the Lord is making everything fall into place just perfectly.
Earlier in the week we were teaching a girl from the college named Cassie. She showed up to the appointment with a friend who is a basketball player for the college. We asked him at the beginning if he was interested and he's like, "I just kinda want to listen." Well later on he pulled out a notebook and my companion and I were like, "well, guess he wants to do his homework instead.." and just focused on her. Then at the end of the lesson bishop's wife asked if he had any questions and he's like, "I don't think so...I mean I've been taking notes so I'm good." Turns out he wasn't doing his homework...He took like 3 full pages of notes on our discussion O.O Then Cassie was like, "when I go home I'm going to make some apple pies. You guys can have some if you want." So totally getting pies, too. Heck yes.
This last story is a little interesting...so there's this "member" in the ward who went apostate. Like straight crazy. He joined some weird fundamentalist group and was doing these weird ritual things..he was keeping his family from coming to church too and the wife is a returned missionary even. This had been going on for a few years and the bishopbric was praying for some miracle to help them come back to church. So a few days ago..he had a diabetic seizure, went to a coma, turned black and died within about 5 minutes. It was nuts. So we visited the family after the funeral and she told us, "yeah I really want to come back to church and now I can have my kids baptized too." Awesome. But Um so...yeah my bishopbric killed a man...just sayin...them prayers be powerful let me remind everyone. O.o
So super great week in any case! We also had a really large number of investigators at sacrament meeting this week too which was awesome. Things are great here. (:
